Often at ALA events publishers will invite you to dinner and while you are there they will present several of their soon to be published books! Usually they will have an author as a guest speaker. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the dinner for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing featuring Michael Buckley, one of my many favorite children's authors. What a treat! For children he has written the popular series The Sister's Grimm and N.E.R.D.S However, he was speaking about his new book for teens Undertow. Then after the dinner he signed the uncorrected copy of the book, which I received!
Undertow: Which will be out in early May. A new race, Alpha's, is discovered when they come out of the ocean. The excitement and awe that humans feel for discovering this race soon turns to hate and mistrust. This book centers around Lyric Walker and her relationship with Fathom, the crown prince of the Alphas, as she helps him assimilate into this new uncharted world. I wonder why they left the ocean? Is there something truly evil to fear in the undertow?
